Plastic Spacers

When the pipe is ready to be installed inside the casing, plastic spacers are placed on the outside of the pipe. These spacers protect the pipe during the process of installation, as well as later against damage to coating and against interruptions that interfere with cathodic protection.

Plastic spacers have clam–shell design and are manufactured for varied pipe diameters

The ends of the casing at the point where the pipe is outside the tunnel are protected against humidity with the use of special end seals or heat shrink sleeves.

The casing can also be used to pull through several pipes of
a smaller diameter at the same time, held together with plastic spacers. In addition, it can be used for communications, SCADA systems, and cathodic protection cables.
