Coating Systems (short overview)

Coatings applied in stationary and semi–stationary conditions

Multi–layer hot tape coating systems

Synergy — multi–layer coating system developed and produced by Polyken

  • designed for stationary and semi–stationary pipeline protection,
  • presents an alternative to two– and three–layer PE/PP extruded plant coatings,
  • used for pipe up to 820mm diameter (32") at up to 65oC.
 

Vanguard — multi–layer coating system (Polyken),

  • designed for stationary and semi–stationary pipeline protection,
  • presents an alternative to two– and three– layer plant coatings,
  • used for pipe up to 820mm diameter (32") with temperature requirements up to 95oC,
  • provides high mechanical integrity, which is extremely important for pipelines in aggressive soil conditions, as well as for pipe transportation.

Two–component liquid coating

Ceramguard — two–component coating of ceramics modified polyurethane, developed and manufactured
by Canusa,

  • used both in plant and field conditions,
  • used as additional coating over epoxy coated pipe for protection in directional drilling applications,
  • high impact and abrasion resistance,
  • spray and brush grades available.
 

Ceramguard HBE — High Build Epoxy coating, similar to above, but with an epoxy base.

 

Acothane — two–component coating made by Metrotect,

  • used for both internal and external pipeline coating, pipe components, valves, etc.,
  • spray grade and brush grade available,
  • used as the main coating as well as for rehabilitation and repair of pipeline coatings in field conditions.
 

Acothane T.U. — Acothane TU – two–component coating made from tar modified urethane by Metrotect,

  • used as main coating as well as for rehabilitation and repair of pipeline coating in the field,
  • available in spray and brush grade.
Coating for joints and pipe components

Heat–shrink sleeves and tapes (Canusa)

GTS–65 (Global Transmission Sleeves) — heat–shrink sleeves

  • for sealing and corrosion protection of joints on pipeline with plant coating,
  • operating temperature
    — up to 65oC,
  • excellent compatibility with practically all types of plant coatings.
 

GTS–80 — heat–shrink sleeves

  • for sealing and corrosion protection of joints on pipeline with plant coating,
  • operating temperature up to 80oC (176oF) ,
  • excellent compatibility with practically all types of plant coatings.
 

GTS–HT — heat–shrink sleeves

  • for sealing and corrosion protection of joints on pipeline with plant coating,
  • operating temperature — up to 120oC,
  • excellent compatibility with practically all types of main pipeline coatings.
 

GTS–HT PP — heat–shrink sleeves

  • for sealing and corrosion protection of joints on pipeline with polypropylene plant coating,
  • operating temperature — up to 120oC,
  • used in directional drilling pipe laying operations where the main coatings are three–layer polypropylene.
 

PMA, PLOX, KLOX, WLOX — high shrink sleeves

  • for protection of flanges, couplings and other high profile joints,
  • manufactured in two configurations: pre–fabricated tube, or as wrap with separate closure seal,
  • used where high shrinkage is a requirement – as in differential pipe diameters.
 

Wrapid Tape, Canusa Clad — tapes manufactured from the same material as the sleeves,

  • intended for protecting bends and short pipes,
  • They also used as the main plant applied pipe coating.

Coating Systems (Canusa)

LRKN — coating system, consisting of a special filler and a high shrink sleeve,

  • used for tapered coupling repair and low–pressure gas leak repair.
 

CSK (Casing Seal Kit) — coating system with a high shrink sleeve,

  • used for pipe–in–pipe casing sealing applications.
 

TBK (Thrust Bore Kit) — two–sleeve coating system,

  • used for protecting joints with plant polyethylene coating in directional drilling applications,
  • operating temperatures — up to 80oC.

The primary sleeve is applied directly to the joint. The second sleeve has an additional epoxy coating to provide additional abrasion protection. This sacrificial sleeve is applied to the leading edge of the primary sleeve.
It protects against the abrasion and wear forces that occur during the pull/push–through operation,
thus leaving the primary sleeve intact to provide corrosion protection.

Cold Applied Tapes (Polyken)

Polyken 980/955/919

  • used for field coating of new pipe, as well as for coating rehabilitation of existing pipe,
  • working temperatures up to 65oC.
 

Polyken 2036/2055/1019

  • used for field coating of new pipe, as well as for coating rehabilitation of existing pipe, where high soil stress conditions exist,
  • working temperatures up to 95oC.
 

Polyken 1600/1619

  • used for field coating of new pipe, as well as coating rehabilitation of existing high–temperature pipe,
  • operating temperatures up to 121oC.
